A day in the life
We had another good scan this morning - my amniotic fluid stayed high throughout the weekend with all my water drinking! Jack was looking great and sucking his thumb for us.
While today has been a good day in terms of my pregnancy journey, it's also been a bit of a tough day for me as it's the first day of school. I've enjoyed seeing all the pictures online, but it's also hard knowing I'm not there with my class. I just remind myself that they're in great hands and I'm where I need to be!
A lot of people have asked what I'm doing to fill my time, so I thought I'd share since we don't have a lot to update on in terms of me & Jack.
Each morning the nurses come in to give me medicine at 8 and check my heart, lungs, reflexes, ask me a million questions, etc. Mondays & Fridays (and some Tuesdays & Wednesdays) we go to the specialist for a scan. After the scan we order breakfast. Once breakfast is over the nurses come back in to monitor Jack. Which involves putting censors on my belly to track his heart rate and look for contractions. This typically lasts about 20 minutes & involves me laying pretty still.
By the time all that is over it's typically 10 or later. We've been fortunate to have lots of visitors so sometimes we have people here for lunch or dinner or both. The nurses come back in to give me my medicine at 4 and then again after dinner to do the monitoring again before bed. They come back one more time for my medicine at midnight. My doctor also comes by every day to check on us - it depends on her schedule for when she comes by.
In between monitoring, medicine, scans, doctor visits, meals & visitors I've found a few ways to stay occupied. So far I've finished 5 books (my favorite hobby) & colored quite a few pages in various coloring books. I've also been updating my blog, spending entirely too much time on social media, and watching preseason football. Justin & I have also been playing Gin Rummy.
We continue to be blown away by all of your support! I love getting to tell the nurses that no, I'm not tired of the hospital food because my wonderful friends & family have been bringing us delicious meals!
